Michigan Restaurant Association Food Show

This year, twenty-four Culinary students participated in the annual Michigan Restaurant Association Food show.  They assisted vendors and participants in showcasing their food products and restaurant wares.  Students had an exciting opportunity to work with celebrity chefs during demonstrations,  and  they helped Michigan companies like GFS and Jiffy present to potential customers from all over the Midwest region. On Wednesday, students participated in the ProStart challenge, which is one of the connections to our state culinary curriculum, and on the last day,  the students also helped Gleaners collect food staples donated by the participating companies for Forgotten Harvest, culminating the week with a rewarding community service project.  Additionally, during this exciting week, OSTC-SE students were even able to showcase their hidden talents by modeling for the fashion show!  This work-based experience was a great way to connect to many of our advisory members and learn more about industry expectations.
