Marketing students were provided with an opportunity to go on a field trip in downtown Detroit, a trip that offered students the ability to see the application of marketing concepts firsthand via a two-hour walking tour of the revitalized downtown Central Business District.  Hosted by Rock Ventures, the tour featured a stop at the innovative Quicken Loans offices, and students were able to see how the company's workspace and culture contribute to productivity.  During the walk they also learned about the incredible downtown Detroit renaissance as they made additional stops, including stops at Woodward Developments (home to downtown retail and new apartments) and The Z (a revitalized and redecorated alley way).  The favorite part of the tour was going to the Chrysler House building, which is the home of dPOP, an interior design firm that formed after its founders achieved great success through their design of the Quicken Loans offices.  The trip was a practical experience which allowed students to view the successful downtown business landscape through their marketing lenses, and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
